FIREFIGHTERS and police are probing a suspected arson attack after a horse lorry was discovered ablaze in Pinxton.

The horse lorry was spotted well alight on West End, about 10.30pm, on Wednesday, December 22.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “Two ambulances were requested for two people suffering from smoke inhalation and the police were requested because the fire is believed to have involved a deliberate ignition.”

Alfreton firefighters armed with breathing apparatus and hose reel jets extinguished the blaze and made the area safe within an hour.

Witnesses or those with information are urged to call Derbyshire Constabulary on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
