A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was killed in a Chesterfield house fire.

Officers investigating a house fire in Catherine Street in the early hours of yesterday morning (Thursday March 3) say they have now arrested the suspect.

The victim of the fire has also been named as 32-year-old Gemma Stevens.

FATAL FIRE: Woman dies in house blaze

Emergency services were called to a house on Catherine Street at 2am yesterday where they found the body of a woman.

Officers said: "Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances around Gemma's death and the events before and after the fire."
