Fans give their verdict on Chesterfield’s victory

JUBILANT Spireites fans are making their way out of Wembley after watching their side lift the JP Trophy.

Chesterfield FC scored in injury time to seal a 2-0 win. Upbeat supporters leaving the ground spoke to the Derbyshire Times.

Danny Brunt from Matlock, said: “It’s my first trip to Wembley and to win has been brilliant.”

Season ticket holder, Lee Barthorpe from Boythorpe, added:” I thought we would lose. I feel amazing now.”

Phil Ayres, said: “It has been absolutely awesome. What a day.”

Chris Mcann, from Compton Street, Chesterfield, said: “We were the underdogs against a top team. In the first half we rode the storm, got the first goal which gave us confidence then there was only going to be one winner.”

Born and bred Chesterfield lad, Steve Kirk, now living in Lichfield, said it had been an amazing day. He added: “Hopefully it will give them a boost to stay in the league.”
