A vulnerable 60-year-old man has gone missing from Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
Roy Thompson has been described by his nephew, John Jackson, as a very confused man who needs help.
The father-of-four has given his life to working with the United Nations and helping countries to improve.
He has two daughters and a son in Africa and another daughter in Manchester.
John said: “He has been a very clever and very healthy man all his life but in December last year his mental health deteriorated quite dramatically.
“In April he flew over to Africa to relax and spend some time with his family.
“One Sunday he was flown back to England as his health worsened still.”
On Monday, October 12, Roy went to see his local GP who then said he needed to be admitted to hospital.
He was last seen at 9.20am on Thursday, October 15, wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, a green polo shirt and crocs.
He is 6ft 3in tall and of medium build with short grey hair.
John said: “He was last seen walking to Calow and it is very rural there and the state he is in is really worrying.
“I feel sick thinking he is missing – we need him home so he can get the help he needs.
“He’s not going to be violent if you meet him but he is going to be very confused and anxious so please be patient and kind with him.”
