An amazing family joined forces to raise an incredible £10,000 for Chesterfield’s Ashgate Hospice in honour of a beloved relative who was cared for by the charity.
Darren Mosley, of Clay Cross, told how his father John Mosley sadly passed away after suffering cancer but the care he received at Ashgate Hospice brought him and his family a great deal of comfort and support.
Mr Mosley said: “We lost dad to cancer and we decided as a family to raise as much money as possible in 12 months.
“Dad was a very popular and well known man and he would always do things for other people because he was very community minded and giving person.”
John Mosley was a NE Derbyshire District Councillor and a publican who raised about £50,000 for charities throughout according to Darren.
His family raised cash through a John Mosley Hospice Fund backing the Derbyshire Times’ 25in25 Hospice Appeal with a Halloween party, New Year’s Eve Ball, a Leeds Half Marathon challenge, the hospice Drag Race and Midnight Walk, a Shirland Golf Club day and Charlie’s Bar, at Clay Cross, hosted a fundraising day.
Mr Mosley added: “We intended to raise about £5,000 but the donations have just kept coming in.”
