DERBYSHIRE Council Council is hosting an exhibition to promote awareness of the lives and experiences of transgender people at two venues in Derbyshire.
In South Normanton, The Hub, on Shiners Way, will host the exhibition between December 7 and 13, and Buxton Museum and Art Gallery will host it between December 14 and 23.
The exhibition aims to raise awareness of the transgender community. It focuses on the lives of local transgender people, includes photographs and a booklet in which they tell their stories.
Members of the local transgender community will attend the exhibition on each opening day to talk to visitors about their experiences.
Exhibition opening hours:
South Normanton - Monday to Friday, 8am - 6pm
Buxton Museum and Art Gallery - Tuesday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.30pm; Saturday 9.30am to 5pm
Councillor Carol Hart, Cabinet Member for Public Health, said: “It’s really important that people find out more about the transgender community and I am really pleased that the county council is able to host this exhibition to raise awareness locally”.
