‘Evidence of drug use’ by tragic teen

An inquest has been opened after a teenager is believed to have died from drug misuse.

At about 11pm on Saturday, January 18, emergency services were called to a house on Chapel Street, Leabrooks, where they found 19-year-old Daniel Gill unresponsive in a bedroom. He was with friends.

The teenager was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead, Chesterfield coroners’ court heard on Friday.

Justin Redman, of Derbyshire police, told the hearing there was evidence of drug use by Mr Gill. “He had some injection marks on his body,” he added.

Police said a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with supplying drugs. They have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
