BIG-hearted residents have raised more than £1,000 for a brave little girl battling leukaemia.
Charity events at Goodman Court sheltered housing in Calow have boosted the fund to send Emily Bell, 12, on a dream holiday to swim with dolphins.
Emily, who is due to finish her gruelling chemotherapy next month, met residents to receive a cheque on Saturday.
“We were really chuffed, you don’t expect it”, said mum Andrea Bennett, of Duckmanton.
After choosing Emily as their annual charity the residents held coffee mornings, raffles and other events to raise £1,040. The success follows £3,500 collected for the air ambulance last year.
