CAR crash casualties were taken to hospital after two vehicles were involved in a collision on the M1 motorway near Chesterfield.

The collision involved two saloon vehicles on the southbound carriageway, between junctions 30 and 29a, about 11.50am, on Sunday, March 3.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “One of the vehicles went off the carriageway and collided with trees.”

Chesterfield and Staveley firefighters attended the crash scene with police and an ambulance.

Casualties were taken to hospital by ambulance and fire crews helped make the area safe for other motorists within half-an-hour.
