FIrefighters battled for over half-an-hour to extinguish a blaze in a brick out-house and make the area safe.

The fire was discovered at the building, on French Terrace, Whaley Thorns, about 1.20am, today, Thursday, November 24.

Bolsover, Shirebrook and Clowne crews were called out to the scene and the police were informed so they could make a forced entry of the building.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “Crews used a hose reel jet and needed breathing apparatus to extinguish the out-house and ventilate the property.”

An ambulance was alerted as a precaution but the fire service later confirmed there no occupants involved.
