The 2013 Elmton Well Dressings will go on display in Elmton Village, near Creswell, on Friday, June 28.
There will be three well dressings on display, one at the church and the others by the upper and lower wells.
The main well dressing will be constructed during the week commencing Monday, June 24, by the local community and volunteers. This will take place in the old schoolroom next to St Peter’s Church in Elmton village.
The other two well dressings are being decorated by Creswell Infants School and by Eckington Camms School.
All the well dressings will be unveiled on Friday, June 28, at 7pm when the traditional blessing of the wells service takes place in the open air around each of the well dressings. All are welcome to join in the walk round the village.
The well dressings remain on public display during the weekend when there is an exhibition of local history in the church from 12 noon to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Cream teas are on sale in the old schoolroom next to the church at the same times.
Elmton villagers have been producing well dressings since 1986.
