POTENTIAL candidates from across Bolsover District and North East Derbyshire who are thinking of standing in the County Council elections on Thursday 2nd May 2013 are being invited to attend an election briefing.
The briefing will take place on Tuesday 19th March 2013 at Bolsover District Council’s offices, The Arc, High Street, Clowne S43 4JY from 6pm.
It will be to give potential candidates an insight into what paperwork they must complete to register as a candidate, what rules and regulations they must adhere to during an election campaign, rules on spending and donations, attending the count and what being a councillor involves.
Wes Lumley, Joint Chief Executive Officer of Bolsover and North East Derbyshire Councils said: “The briefing is aimed at making it as easy as possible for people to stand for election, including independent candidates and people who may
never have stood before. Voters need to trust those standing for elected office.
“That’s why it’s so important that candidates and their agents know the rules from the outset, and follow them throughout, including reporting information after the election.”
Any person, regardless of whether they stand for a political party or not who is interested in standing at the County Council elections is invited to attend the briefing. To register your interest please telephone (01246) 242422/
