Train passengers are in for a treat thanks to talented Crich Carr Primary School pupils who have unveiled their eye-catching artwork at Whatstandwell Railway Station.

The work depicts the youngsters’ school and favourite places including Cromford Canal, Crich Stand and of course Florence Nightingale and Whatstandwell Railway Station and it is on show along the station platform and entrance.

Teacher Angela Curran said: “The children have thoroughly enjoyed this project – spending several weeks researching and producing the artwork. They also spent two afternoons working with people planting pollinator-friendly plants and bulbs.”

The artwork has been supported the Derwent Valley Line Community Rail Partnership and funded by the Association of Community Rail Partnerships’ Small Grants Fund and East Midlands Trains. Derwent Valley Line Community Rail chairman Irene Ratcliffe said the children have done a great job.
