BARLOW Pre-School has been celebrating the opening of their new playground - and the results of their latest OFSTED inspection, at the same time as raising funds for the pre-school.
The new play facilities at the pre-school were officially opened by Chairperson Joanne Staley. Joanne thanked everyone who had been involved in the project, which has been a real community effort. Funds towards the playground have been raised via grant funding, as well as donations from Barlow Parish Council, the local theatre group Barnpots and Barlow Primary School, and through fundraising events.
Parents, staff and committee members have also given their time to the project by helping with painting the fencing, gardening, and donating paving materials.
As part of the opening event the pre-school children enjoyed a sponsored egg and spoon obstacle course around the playground, with buns and other Easter goodies on sale to help raise further funds.
The event also followed impressive results from Barlow Pre-school’s latest OFSTED inspection which gave an overall outcome of “Good” with outstanding features. The OFSTED report made particular reference to the staff and the new play facilities. “Staff work exceptionally imaginatively to create a vibrant, exciting and well-organised learning environment in the community hall and an equally valuable outdoor classroom in the play area adjacent to the building,” it said.
The report added: “Children come to pre-school knowing that they will have lots of exciting things to do and consequently arrive with enthusiasm and a great sense of expectation.”
