Raising pounds for Punjab

The sun was shining and the rain clouds were miles away on an unseasonably warm autumn afternoon, perfect weather for a walk to India.

Sponsored by friends and family, pupils from Years 7-13 at Netherthorpe School took part in the fundraising stroll.

By walking five miles each they covered a total of 4,200 miles, the equivalent of walking to India to raise cash for Project Punjab.

Netherthorpe funded the building of a school in the deprived Seham Village, in India, part of Project Punjab, and this year added a science block to the school.

Each student collected a minimum of £5 and together raised over £6,000 from the walk and a non-uniform day.
