Birkdale School has been awarded three Arkwright scholarships this year.
These are only given out to high calibre engineering candidates.
The pupils have to compete with over 800 applicants from across the country to demonstrate flair and originality in solving engineering design problems and also present work to a panel of interviewers.
Sixth formers William Cooper, who is sponsored by the Charitable Trust Brian Mercer, Raymarn Khan, sponsored by the RAF and Duncan Lewis who is still requiring a sponsor, were all picked as students of outstanding ability in this field and who will be taking engineering further at University to become engineers of the future.
They will be formally presented the scholarship at a ceremony hosted by the Institute of Engineering & Technology, in London, in October.
