A pre-school has been awarded the highest rating by Ofsted for the second time.
St Barnabas Centre, on Pilsley Road in Danesmoor was named outstanding last week following an inspection in May, making it the first provision for under fives to get the top rating under new criteria.
Steve Smart, centre manager, said: “It is absolutely fantastic news. The staff are so proud and the parents are impressed, taking to their Facebook accounts to tell everyone ‘my child’s nursery is outstanding’.”
The inspector, Yvonne Layton, found that staff, management and parents continually strive to move forward to improve the setting and provide quality education.
Pre-school manager, Margaret Smart, added: “We are extremely pleased with this wonderful outcome. The entire team of highly qualified staff feel that all chidlren have the right to a shared and dedicatef provision where they are safe and secure and can be independent in their learning.
“This report confirms that we are outstanding in all these areas.”
