Bag a Bargain started when the Waste Watchers programme came to Netherthorpe School.

We had a workshop where we discussed how to increase recycling in school how we could help.

They told us about a competition with a £1,000 prize.

We came up with a charity shop idea, where we collected unwanted items and sold them at cheap prices to students and staff.

After creating posters and telling Waste Watchers about our idea, we finally had a day at the end of term when the sale could take place.

We collected items before the event, including trinket boxes, jigsaws and make-up.

Over 200 people turned up.

With the art supplies, and books and DVDs selling really well, we raised nearly £60.

We also won the £1,000 from Waste Watchers, which with the money from the sale, will be spent on new recycling equipment for our school.
