Twenty-one members of Dunston Walking Group led by Maurice Cardall and David Belfit set off from Matlock, crossing the Derwent Bridge and turned right walking along the side of the river. They went onto Oker Road passing Ashton Farm and on to the summit of Oker Hill.
After crossing open countryside, the party emerged on Cross Green and turned left down Eversleigh Rise to Darley Bridge. They stopped for lunch by the side of the 12th century St Helen’s Church.
After leaving the church the walkers went down a drive passing Abbey Farm then travelled across fields to Rowsley Station where the majority of members caught the bus back to Matlock and the remaining members went on the riverside walk to Peak Village at Rowsley where they caught the bus.
Next week’s walk will be the group’s first this year using the community transport to Monsal Head where members will walk along the trail and through the tunnel.
