A launch meeting for the University of the Third Age in Dronfield will be held on Monday, October 28 at 2pm, in Dronfield Civic Centre.
The U3A in north Derbyshire is growing apace. Chesterfield report 910 members, an increase of nearly 100 in the last year.
A new U3A started in July in Alfreton and already has 57 members.
The Chesterfield chairman, Roger Watts, said: “U3A is a fantastic organisation for those in their Third Age, no longer in full-time employment. Members organise day trips, theatre visits, holidays and interest groups which range from art to walking, history to holistics, painting to philosophy, golf to German. We have 90 such groups in Chesterfield. Our members relish the opportunities to learn, exercise, socialise in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy themselves.”
