A RUNNER is due to pound the pavements of London next month in a bid to raise £1,500 in memory of his grandmother.

Dom Stevens, of Tupton, is due to compete in the London Marathon for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The Destination Chesterfield manager will be running the 26.2 miles on Sunday, April 22.

He said: “‘I decided to run for the Alzheimer’s Society for two reasons, the memories of my grandma and the difficulties she experienced with dementia in later life.

“It was a tough experience to understand as a 13-year-old boy, why someone you really loved and cared for didn’t recognise you any more.”
