A POLICE dog visited Peak District pubs to see if he could sniff out drugs.

The specially trained dog, called Fred, joined Derbyshire police during the recent operation targeting premises in Matlock, Matlock Bath, Darley Dale and Wirksworth.

Officers searched a number of people during the evening – but no one was found to be in possession of any illegal substances.

Similar operations will be held in the future.

Anyone with information about drugs should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
