Seventeen new constables have been sworn in.

The nine men and eight women, most of whom previously served as PCSOs, will start patrolling the county’s streets next week.

The new recruits are aged between 23 and 43 and come from across the county. They will serve in areas including Pear Tree, Ripley, Glossop, Bolsover, Swadlincote and Buxton.

Chief Constable Mick Creedon said: “It’s always a proud moment to see new constables being sworn in. They are at the start of what will be a tremendously exciting and hopefully very rewarding career.”
