RESIDENTS can find out more about work taking place to improve local policing.

Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Charles is inviting people to The Strategic Governance Board meeting in Ripley on Monday March 18.

It will give those attending a clearer insight into how the new governance structure works to address policing issues and make decisions.

This month’s meeting will focus on the areas of contact management - how easily the force can be reached by the public and how well they respond to the issues raised - as well as confidence and satisfaction rates.

Members of the public are invited to observe the meetings but are not able to take part in the discussions.

Commissioner Charles said: “This is a great opportunity to listen to frank discussions about the challenges facing the county in terms of policing and how best we might address them with the resources and funding we have available.

“It also gives residents a chance to see the new governance regime in action and appreciate the rationale behind our decision-making.

“Transparency is key to building trust and confidence in policing, and the new governance structure clearly recognises that.”

Monday’s meeting takes place in the Reception Room, Butterley Hall, Ripley, Derbyshire from 2pm.
