Derbyshire Dales campaign to save NHS from ‘dangerous deal’

Campaigners took to the streets to protest against what they are calling a ‘dangerous deal’ with the United States.

Scores of people gathered on Saturday in Wirksworth, Matlock and Bakewell town centres to spread the word about an international trade deal, which they say could put the NHS at risk.

Members of campaign group 38 Degrees met to talk to passers by, hand out leaflets and invite people to sign a petition against the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, which the group says would force NHS trusts across the country to open themselves up to competition from American private healthcare providers.
