Dead woman’s body found in river

POLICE who pulled the body of a dead woman from a river in a Peak District village have told how there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

Officers were alerted after the body was spotted in water near the Riverside fish and chip shop, at Matlock Bath, about 7.25pm, on Saturday.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesman said: “Someone contacted us and said they could see a body in the river so one of our officers went into the water and recovered the body.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the woman who is believed to be aged in her 60s.”
