Simon has undergone three courses of chemotherapy and is now in remission.

Due to the debilitating nature of his treatment Simon, who now lives in Manchester, struggled to regain the strength to walk, let alone exercise properlyf– making the run even more of a challenge for him.

He said: “I am running purely as a way to pay Cancer Research UK back for saving my life.

“During my treatment I witnessed the devastating effects that so many different cancers can have, and am so much more aware of the importance of research.
