Woman arrested after Chesterfield church fire

A woman has been arrested after a fire broke out in a Chesterfield church.

Crews were called to St Hugh’s Church on Littlemoor at around 1.15pm on Sunday, May 25.

Police were also called to the scene as it is believed the fire was started deliberately.

A police spokesperson said someone was seen on CCTV running to the rectory next door following the blaze. Another video from a shop’s CCTV showed the same person buying lighter gel.
