A REVELLER has been fined for punching a woman after he had been involved in a pub fracas.
Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Monday, May 13, how Dean Gough assaulted Harriet Newstead in the Bluebell pub, in the town.
Becky Mahon, prosecuting, said: “Harriet had been celebrating New Year and realised her partner had been in a heated argument with two other couples.
“As she led her partner to the door she noticed the couples follow them and she turned and told Gough to leave it and she was punched in the face.”
Jessica Rogers, defending, said Gough had been in an altercation with Harriet Newstead’s partner and had felt threatened.
Gough, 23, of Alfriston Road, Coventry, pleaded guilty to the assault which was committed on January 1. Magistrates fined Gough £250 and ordered him to pay £85 costs, £100 compensation and a £25 victim surcharge.
