COURT: Court Case

A thug who threatened to burn down a man’s house with his family inside has been given a 16 week curfew.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on September 30 how Jamie Petrillo, 28, of Birdholme Crescent, Chesterfield, threatened John Patman who had been having a dispute with Pertrillo’s friend.

Angela Hadfield, prosecuting, said Petrillo told Mr Patman as they passed in the street that he was going to burn down his house with his family in it and burn his van. Petrillo pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour after the incident in June.

Defence solicitor Denny Lau said Petrillo had been going back to a friend’s and did not know there was bad feeling with Mr Patman until they crossed paths. Mr Lau added that Petrillo did not intend to carry out the threats. Magistrates gave Petrillo a 16 week curfew between 7pm and 7am and ordered him to pay a £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
