TWO thieves have been sentenced after they stole DVDs, CDs and games from an ASDA store.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard how James Youds, 33, of Cauldon Drive, Holme Hall, Chesterfield, and Tracey Smalley, 23, of Churston Road, Brampton, Chesterfield, were spotted stealing the goods.

Youds and Smalley pleaded guilty to the theft which happened in October. The court heard it had been an act of desperation because Youds was not receiving benefits. Smalley was sentenced to a community order with supervision and a thinking skills activity and is banned from entering ASDA on Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, for 12 months.
