Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on January 27 how Michael Bean, 30, stole three game consoles from Blockbuster’s at Matlock but was caught on CCTV and found with drugs.

Prosecuting solicitor Ian Shaw said Bean stole consoles and also had £20 of methylmethcathinone and £20 of heroin. Bean, of Yew Tree Road, Newark, pleaded guilty to theft and possession of meth and heroin after the July incident. Christopher Perry, mitigating, said Bean is progressing with a drug worker. Magistrates sentenced Bean to a conditional discharge. He must also pay a £15 victim surcharge.
