Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary at a house in a Matlock village.

Sometime between 9.30am and 3.50pm on Wednesday, January 14, offenders broke into a house on Tor Rise.

Burglars entered the house via patio doors and stole electrical items, cash, jewellery and antiques.

Officers would particularly like further information on a man who was seen in the area at about 12.30pm who looked like he was selling door-to-door.

Police described him as “scruffy”, of a slim build and in his 20s.

He was wearing a dark coloured woolly hat, a dark coloured jacket and jeans and was carrying a rucksack on his back.

Anyone with information is asked to call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
