Police caught a drug user with cannabis after they searched a car following a tip-off from a member of the public.
Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Monday, July 22, how Josh Dyer, 21, of Town Street, Pinxton, was caught with two small bags and a box of drugs.
Prosecuting solicitor Becky Mahon said police received a call from a member of the public and they found the vehicle parked in Pinxton with four occupants and they discovered the cannabis.
Dyer admitted the drugs, which had a street value of £120 according to police, were his for his own personal use.
He pleaded guilty to possessing 11.98grammes of the class B drug after the incident in April.
Matt Evans, defending, said this was the first time Dyer had been arrested for this type of offence and he has cut down his smoking with a view to stopping.
Magistrates sentenced Dyer to a £38 fine and he must pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
