Bradwell residents were visited by Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team recently as part of Operation Illuminate.
The team joined forces with the area’s Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator, Victor Poke, to chat to those living on Wortley Court about how they can safeguard their homes from criminals, especially now that the darker nights are drawing in.
Householders were offered discounted home security equipment such as shed alarms, door chimes, timers and ‘dusk til dawn’ bulbs.
PCSO Anthony Boswell said: “Current priorities for the neighbourhood include tackling shed, garage and other outbuildings in the area. Taking part in Operation Illuminate is just one of the ways that we are working to crackdown on these crimes. It’s about making homeowners aware of the simple steps that they can take to safeguard their homes from criminals and it was great to see so many residents at the event increasing their home security.”
The next Operation Illuminate visit, led by Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership, will be in Grindleford on Wednesday, November 27.
