A boyfriend smashed a door and caused over £500 of damage after his partner had been arguing with another man.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Monday, June 3, how 21 year-old Lee Edwards heard his partner arguing with Anthony Melville, of Meadow Court, New Whittington, Chesterfield.

Prosecuting solicitor Becky Mahon said: “Mr Melville went back into his flat and this angered Edwards and there was a bang and his flat door was damaged.”

Edwards, of Church Street, Eastwood, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to causing damage to the Chesterfield Borough Council property in May. The court heard how Edwards had been concerned for his girlfriend.

Magistrates gave Edwards a 12 month supervision order with 100 hours of unpaid work and a thinking skills programme. He was also ordered to pay £566.91 compensation and a £60 victim surcharge.
