Motorcyclist in hospital following incident at Snake Pass

A 20-year-old man is in hospital with head injuries after his motorbike hit a barrier and caught fire.

The collision happened at 5.20pm on Monday, April 27 on the A57 at Glossop, close to Cabin Clough on Snake Pass.

The man was taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield by air ambulance. He has a broken arm and head injuries. A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said he is in a serious condition and it is not clear at this stage if his injuries are life-threatening.

Fire crews attended the scene as the incident caused a grass fire on an embankment. They assisted Greater Manchester Ambulance Service with the casualty.
