Police have sounded a warning to perverts after a Matlock man was jailed for sexually grooming a 15-year-old boy.
Paul McDonald, 47, pleaded guilty to meeting a child following sexual grooming, causing a child to engage in sexual activity and possessing indecent images of children of the lowest category.
McDonald, of Gateway Court, was jailed for three years and nine months when he appeared before Derby Crown Court on Monday.
He must also sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely when he is released from prison and obey a sexual offences’ prevention order.
Speaking after the case, a spokesman for Derbyshire police said: “This case illustrates how seriously we treat allegations of grooming and other forms of sexual exploitation.
“We have a dedicated team of officers who investigate these offences and we regularly work with our partner agencies, striving to protect children across Derbyshire from abuse.
“We would encourage anyone who feels they or someone they know may be at risk of grooming or sexual abuse to contact us.
“We want them to feel confident that their concerns will be treated seriously.”
Victims can report such crimes by calling Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
