Man treated for facial injuries after Heanor robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Heanor in the early hours of this morning.

The offence happened at about 1.30am shortly after a 46-year-old man had withdrawn some money from the cash machine at the post office on Broadway.

As he walked along Broadway he was grabbed from behind and dragged to the ground by a man.

His wallet was stolen and he was hit on the head. The assailant and another man then walked off back in the direction of the post office.

The only description of the men is that they were in their late teens or early 20s. The assailant was wearing blue hooded top and possibly jeans.

Both men were thought to be wearing trainers.

The victim was treated at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for facial injuries.
