Man suffers broken eye socket in Somercotes assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Somercotes.

At 1.55am on Thursday, January 1, a man and his friends were walking along High Street, near to the corner of Sleetmoor Lane, when they passed a group of six men.

An altercation took place and the man was punched in the face by one of the men. He fell to the floor and was then kicked and punched by the group.

The man suffered a broken eye socket and other injuries.

One of the men was described as white, aged 17 to 21, 5ft 8in tall with short dark blonde hair and was of a medium build. He was wearing a grey coloured hooded top, a black body warmer which was zipped up and light grey jogging bottoms.

A second man was described as white, aged 17 to 21, 5ft 7in tall with dark hair and was clean shaven. He was wearing a grey coloured hooded top, jogging bottoms and boots.
