A man has been charged after a suspected arson attack in Chesterfield.

Police and firefighters were called to a house in Parkside View at about 9pm on Wednesday amid reports that a van was ablaze outside and the flames had spread to the garage.

Nobody was injured.

On Friday, a Derbyshire police spokesman said Ian Hudson, 35, of Willow Garth Road, Chesterfield, had been charged with malicious communication.

He was also arrested on suspicion of arson and bailed pending further enquiries with regards to that alleged offence.

He is due to appear before Chesterfield magistrates’ court on Friday.
