A MAN has appeared in court charged with the murder of his wife, who suffered fatal stab wounds at her home.
Andrew Knapper, 41, of Tapton View Road, Chesterfield, was charged with murder after his wife, Sharon Knapper, 39, was injured at the home they shared.
Neighbours reported seeing Mrs Knapper’s three sons running from the house and saw her sister – who also lives on Tapton View Road – crying on the phone.
Emergency services arrived on the scene and found the victim seriously injured. She was rushed to Chesterfield Royal Hospital but died from her injuries.
Andrew Knapper appeared at Nottingham Crown court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody until March, 21.
Mourners have left dozens of bunches of flowers and notes outside Mrs Knapper’s home, including one former school friend, who said: “I saw her just last week. She was so bubbly.”
Another added: “She was lovely.”
One card left in tribute described Sharon as a “dear friend” who would be “missed by all”, and another described her as “a fantastic lady and a wonderful mum.”
One couple wrote: “Goodbye old friend, rest in peace. God bless your boys.”
The tributes were echoed by neighbour, Roy Harris, who said that the community was in shock after the tragedy. He said: “I am sorry to hear about it. I didn’t know her but I am sorry, just before Christmas. It’s the kids.”
An inquest into the death was opened and adjourned at Chesterfield’s coroners court on Monday.
