A homeless man is to be sentenced after he was caught for stealing alcohol and DVDs.
Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard, last Monday, how Paul Wells, 30, of no fixed abode, stole lager from one store and spirits from a Co-op store. Wells also admitted stealing DVDs from Chesterfield’s BHS shop.
Angela Hadfield, prosecuting, said: “He had two cans of alcohol in his pocket and a further offence was later discovered after he attended a Co-op and stole spirits.”
Mrs Hadfield also explained that days later he stole DVDs from Chesterfield’s BHS store.
Wells pleaded guilty to the thefts committed in November, December and January. Matt Evans, defending, said the stolen items were recovered and Wells had been drunk when he stole the alcohol.
District Judge Andrew Davison remanded Wells in custody and adjourned the case until January 20 for sentencing.
