The former chair of a Derbyshire organisation has pleaded guilty to a string of child porn charges.

Robert Alan Jess, who headed the Federation of North East Derbyshire Tenants and Residents, admitted six charges of making indecent images of children and one of being in possession of indecent images of a child when he appeared before Derby Crown Court earlier this month.

The offences took place between January 2012 and July 2014.

Jess, 64, of Stephenson Place, Clay Cross, was given a three-year community order and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for five years.

The Federation of North East Derbyshire Tenants and Residents helped with the set up of tenant and resident groups in the area.

The organisation, which worked closely with Rykneld Homes, closed in February.

A spokesman for Rykneld Homes said: “We received confirmation that Mr Jess resigned as chair of the Federation of North East Derbyshire Tenants and Residents in October 2014 following the AGM of that organisation.

“Rykneld Homes is aware the Federation of North East Derbyshire Tenants and Residents closed in February 2015.

“Rykneld Homes remains committed to supporting the network of existing tenant and resident groups and associations within north east Derbyshire and continues to work closely with them.”
