A 15-year-old girl has become the second victim to be shot at with an air gun in Buxton in the space of a week.

As reported last week, a 52-year-old Buxton man, who did not wish to be named, was shot in the lower back last Sunday at around 7pm as he walked home with his wife on the Cliff Road steps.

He said he did not see what happened and after seeking medical attention, fragments of a pellet were found in the wound.

The second incident occurred six days later on Saturday evening at about 6.15pm in an alleyway between Windsor Road and Cliff Road.

A police spokesman said the victim was listening to her music as she was walking home when she felt her handbag move.

She looked to find a small hole in the strap and but said she didn’t see anybody around.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or witnesses to contact the non-emergency number 101.
