Flasher is convicted

A FLASHER must pay compensation after Chesterfield magistrates heard that he followed a woman into pub toilets and exposed himself.

Neil Wells had earlier seen his 46-year-old victim outside The Summit, in Shirebrook, and asked her: “Have you got any knickers on?”

Peter Bettney, prosecuting, said she was in the ladies toilets when she heard a door open.

“The defendant had lowered his trousers before entering the ladies,” said Mr Bettney. “

He said he had been in a hurry to go to the toilet and that’s why he used the ladies instead.”

Wells (42) of Hazel Crescent, Shirebrook, denied a charge of indecent exposure but was convicted after failing to attend his trial.

He was given a one-year supervision order, ordered to do 100 hours’ unpaid work, with £350 costs and pay £200 compensation to his victim. He was put on the sex offenders’ register for five years.
