A drink-driver who was about three times over the legal alcohol limit damaged another vehicle and was spotted staggering.
Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard last week how a resident spotted Nicholas Holland, 29, of Woodland Way, Old Tupton, Chesterfield, revving in Storforth Lane before staggering into the street.
Becky Allsop, prosecuting, said the witness called police as another neighbour discovered Holland had collided with his car. Holland recorded a test of 103 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath and pleaded guilty to exceeding the drink-drive limit after the incident in November. Mrs Allsop said Holland had been expecting a lift but he claimed someone had let him down.
Magistrates sentenced Holland to a 12 month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work. He was disqualified from driving for 24 months and ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
