Drunk admits assaulting cop with her snot

From the courts

From the courts

A DRUNKEN woman who was involved in a fracas outside Chesterfield Town Hall has admitted being drunk and disorderly and blowing snot into a police officer’s face.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Tuesday how Samantha O’Connor, 37, of Handley Road, New Whittington, Chesterfield, was spotted shouting and swearing during an altercation with a man at Rose Hill and after her arrest she blew and snorted mucus at a police man.

Sherrall Pickford, prosecuting, said: “Police found O’Connor and a man both drunk and staggering. O’Connor was taken to one side and she was shouting and swearing and was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.”

The court heard how the man O’Connor was with was placed in a cage in a police van and O’Connor was put in a seat in the front.

Ms Pickford explained that O’Connor jumped out of the van and tried banging her head on a pavement so to prevent her hurting herself she was handcuffed and put back in the van.

Ms Pickford added: “She had a long trail of mucus hanging from her nose and this was blown and snorted covering the police officer’s face.

“The officer said he felt uncomfortable and was holding O’Connor and couldn’t wipe it off because she was thrashing around.”

O’Connor pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in public and to assaulting a police officer after the incident in December.

Magistrates adjourned the case until April 11 for sentencing.
