A man walked into a property in Vernon Rise and told the homeowner he needed to check the pipes in the house were not blocked.

He then asked the 69-year-old victim to accompany him to the back garden.

While they were there, a second man went upstairs and stole a cash box and a watch.

The two offenders then left the property and drove off in a black Audi A6.
