An inquest into the death of a man who was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car has been opened and adjourned.

Stephen Cocking, 53, of Oadby Drive, Hasland, was riding down Strines Road on Saturday, June 1, when he took a left onto the Snake Pass and collided with a car the inquest heard.

Speaking at the hearing at Chesterfield Coroner’s Court today (June 5), PC Ian Phillips, said: “His motorcycle careered onto the wrong side of the road and collided head on with a Renault Megane travelling in the opposite direction.”

He said his daughter, Hannah Cocking, had been with him at the time of the crash.

Assistant deputy coroner for Chesterfield and north Derbyshire, Sophie Cartwright, adjourned the inquest for a date to be set.
